Monday, June 13, 2016 - 11:07pm

Leggett Seeks Applicants for Water Quality Advisory Group (deadline for application is June 29, 2016).

Applicants of diverse backgrounds, professions, gender, geography, disability and ethnicity are encouraged to apply. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time. Members of these boards are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Leggett’s appointments are generally subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of individuals selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.

County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill seven vacancies on the Water Quality Advisory Group. Applicants may be from one of the following communities: academic and scientific, agricultural, business, environmental, or from the public-at-large. Four incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.

The 15 voting members and three non-voting agency members provide recommendations to the County Executive and County Council each year on issues related to the County's water quality goals, objectives, policies and programs.

Members serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Meetings are usually held the second Monday evening of each month at the Department of Environmental Protection, 255 Rockville Pike, #120, Rockville.  More information about the Water Quality Advisory Group and recent activities can be found at their web page:
